Baby Lap Time at the Library

Every Friday, since we moved to Port Charlotte, Davin and I have attended "Baby Lap Time" at the local public library. It was a great opportunity for us to get out into the community and meet some other moms and babies. Baby Lap Time only lasted a 1/2 every Friday but Davin loved it. We would start off by singing some songs, usually a welcome song and The Wheels on the Bus. Then the teachers would read a story or two. Next we would get to use the maraca eggs to shake to music. And finally, all the toys would come out and the babies would get to rummage through them and play together. It was good socialization time for us both. Unfortunately Baby Lap Time takes a break for the summer so it won't start back up until next fall. Here are a few pics:

The Florida Aquarium

Davin's second cousins were down visiting from Indiana so we met them and Mumzie at the Florida Aquarium to visit and play. Davin loved looking at all of the fish.

Day 4 - Santa Barbara Wine Country

For our last full day in L.A. we decided to head up the coast to Santa Barbara Wine Country. It took about 2.5 hours to get there but the drive was beautiful because we were driving up mountains and down into valleys. When we got to Santa Barbara we visited a total of 5 different wineries. 2 were actual vineyards and 3 were in the "wine town". The first place we went to was Bridlewood Estate Winery So BEAUTIFUL!!!!! The vineyard is an old horse farm and has acres and acres of rolling hills filled with grape vines. The grounds were gorgeous. First we had a tasting inside and then headed outside to enjoy the scenery. The next three tastings we had were in a little wine town where there were wineries, restaurants, and shops lining the street. The last winery we visited was the Kalyra vineyard. After sampling wine we headed down the Pacific Coast Highway to Malibu for dinner.

Day 3 - Uncle Timmy's Graduation

Today we got to attend Uncle Timmy's graduation from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. The ceremony was held in the Shrine Auditorium and was the best graduation ceremony we had attended. Following the ceremony we got to meet some of Uncle Timmy's friends, professors and he even let Davin wear his cap.

Day 2 - The L.A. Zoo

On the itinerary for our second day in L.A. was the zoo. Before the zoo we stopped for a delicious breakfast at this adorable restaurant called "Home". We got to sit outside and enjoy the California weather while we ate.
The L.A. Zoo was great. Davin loved looking at all of the animals and he even spoke gibberish to a few.

Day 1 - Santa Monica

Upon our arrival in L.A. Timmy and Lauren planned for us all to head over to Santa Monica to get some lunch, shop at the green market, see the pier and visit Muscle Beach. Santa Monica was beautiful. The weather was perfect the whole time we were in California - mid 70's during the day and high 50's at night with no humidity.

We ate at a yummy Italian restaurant that gets all of their veggies and flowers right from the green market that is outside on the street.

Daddy LOVED visiting the original Muscle Beach. Daddy and Uncle Timmy did a work out on Muscle Beach that included rope climbing, pull-ups, and the rings.

The Santa Monica Pier has an amazing view of the mountains and Pacific Ocean.

California Here We Come

We were very fortunate to be able to go out to California to attend Uncle Timmy's graduation from USC. This was a very BIG step for Davin seeing as he had never been on an airplane or experienced a 3 hour time change. He did awesome! The next few posts will highlight some of our adventures.
